This surprise proposal will always have a very special place in our hearts.
Earlier this year we spent a few days in Charlotte with some friends, and knowing that North Carolina was a special place for Jessica, Derek decided that it would be the perfect proposal destination. About six months ago we had asked the two of them if they would ever consider letting us take them out for a photo session, and then upon booking tickets to Charlotte we confirmed that we should do a session on our trip.
Many secretive conversations were had as soon as Jessica would leave the room, and we were able to piece together a plan that wouldn’t give anything away. Somehow we pulled it off without a hitch, taking portraits as the sun began to set, the ring hiding away in Sancia’s purse. It wasn’t until after series of fake phone calls, ‘forgetting’ the purse on the ground, and a dash to set up the cameras behind the bushes that Derek got down on one knees and Jessica realized what was happening.
